Rhianna's Sick Day

Today I was horribly sick. I chewed lots of halls cough drops and played lots of words with friends and fashion story (how do people have time to play fashion story?).

The middle pic, my friend texted to me. I told him that I was horribly sick. He texted back "Rhianna and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day." I had no idea what he was talking about. He texted me back that pic along with how I had such a horrible and deprived childhood for not knowing that story. Lol.

I must go. I feel like i'm rambling. It must be the cough medicine. Lol.

“Winning” (The Bachelor)

Who tuned in last night for the latest bachelor episode. I think each episode gets more and moreboring. The only thing worth talkingabout is that crazy girl Courtney that kept saying “winning”. Like, as in quoting Charlie Sheen. “Winning.” Dump her Ben.

In more interesting Bachelor/Bachlorette news, have y’allheard who the new bachelorette will be? It will be Emily Maynard from Brad’s season. The same Emily that all the guys wanted inAshley’s season. Maybe they can call Bentleyto come back and stir things up.

Multipurpose Table (Mag Monday)

My multipurpose table is my coffee table. I do everything there in my living room. I read book, write blogs, sew, craft, etc. I sometimes even eat dinner there.

1. Purple flowers in one of my favorite littlevases.

2. Current books that I am reading

3. My remotes in their little material box.

4. Lotion

5. Candle

6. Silver box that I keep small stuff in like pins,bobby pins, etc.

7. Porcelain tray—at the end of the day, I alwaysseem to throw things in their such as my jewlert. Loose change, etc.

8. Candle in tiny lantern

9. Flower table cloth (I sometimes interchange itwith a pink and white striped one).

Have you ever had a boyfriend that you knew wasn’t good for you, butyou dated him anyway? There were otherbenefits to dating him; he just wasn’t overall good for you. Maybe he didn’t love you back as much as youloved him. That is how my love affairhas been with Dr. Pepper.

I went to my doctor yesterday, about a couple of issues that I havebeen having .

He said I must stop drinking Dr. Pepper. He told me to mark my calendar and hepromises in 5 weeks, I’ll be detox and I’ll feel much better.

This was my farewell Dr. Pepper this morning. Small, fountain drink, without ice from Wendy’s,just the way I like it.

I gave him the “it’s not you, it’s me” talk.

I am so in love with this new nail color, VIP Status by L'Oreal. I usually stick to Sonia Kashuk polish. I love all her colors, but the L'Oreal display literally stopped me in my tracks. I had to at leaste pick one.

Welcome to Dumpsville that should be the real name for this show. (lol)

Who tuned in last night to The Bachelor?

Here are my thoughts on last night's episode:

I don't remember the girl that got dumped via text. She told the same story on the first episode, I kind of felt bad at first. I know guys can be jerks, but when she told the story again tonight, I couldn't help but think what she might have done to him to be dumped like that. I liked how Ben laughed when he first heard the story.

If you missed what she said the text read (If I'm remembering correctly):
"Welcome to Dumpsville, babe. Population: you."

All that Shantell drama-was that for real? Or was that something worked up by the producers? It was stupid whatever that was. (I liked when the rest of girls finally recognized her, their reaction was, "it's the funeral director!".)

What was up with that girl in the end credits? That tattoo was gross.

What did y'all think? Have any favorites yet?

Bachelor Ben

Has anyone seen the first episode of The Bachelor this season? Ireally like this year's bachelor, Ben [whateverhislastnameis]. He seemslike a real decent guy, but unfortunately (in bachelor land) decent = snoozefest. But, that is ok, because when thebachelor is boring, it only mean that drama will occur with thebachelorettes. And that is the reasonthat we all tune in season after season.

The first episode was dramatic enough for me. I can’t even really rememberanything eventful, except for some girl that brought her Grandma only for theride.

I did take notice of the beautiful sights whenBen’s hometown was introduced and I must have started to daydream about livingin California. So instead of my usualbachelor(ette) bashing, I’ve decided to post beautiful pictures of Sonoma,California.

I totally forgot to blog about this. A while back one of my bf’s blessed me withbox seat tickets to The Adams Family Musical. The traveling tour started in New Orleans and is traveling to different cities. If they are coming to your city or near you,it is definitely worth going see, even if you are not crazy about The Adams Family. All the actors and great and funny! I was inawe with just the scenery. The scenery was gorgeous and a show in itself. Two thumbsup from me!

Down south it has been pretty warm, it usually stays warm till mid October or November. But if you are like me, you are just itching to wear some fall fashion but it is too warm. And you feel like you can’t wear your summer clothes, because it’s not summer. . . what’s a girl to do? I stumbled upon this little fashion trick last weekend while I was looking for an outfit to run my weekend errands. I put on my bathing suit cover up (some might call it a caftan) with black leggings, a black tank underneath, and black flip flops. I was cool enough for the warm weather (because that caftan is so light), but with the leggings and tank it didn’t feel so summery. It’s a win/win . . . right?Further down in this post, I have some other options to mix an d match with your caftan.

As you probably already know, I'm totally obsessed with Kate Middleton's style. Her sister, Pippa, has very similar, if not, identical taste. When I saw this photo of her yesterday I was totally inspired. I really love navy, but I would never it with red. I didn't want to risk looking too nautical.

Today, tried a similar look, but instead of pairing navy with red, I alternated it with a pinkish/fuchsia-ish color.

I'm so horrible at taking "outfit of the day" type photos. All you wardrobe bloggers really get my admiration for always taking great outfit pics and always looking great, too. (Every once in a while, I might post a pic similar to above to show how I was/am inspired. )

Men, men, men, men, men, men . . . .

Is anyone else excited about the new season of Two and a Half Men? I really liked the show before with the crazy Charlie Sheen, but I think I will love it even more with Ashton Kutcher. I think, I first fell in love with him in the movie, Texas Rangers, and I think I’ve seen most of his movies since then.

The height of his popularity was when I was in high school/college, back in his silly “Dude, Where’s My Car?” days. Then since he is married (to the lovely Demi Moore) it seems like we don’t see much of him much except for on Twitter and stuff like that. Isn’t that just like your real life college friends? But now it’s like our old friend has moved back to the same city and we’ll get to see him all the time. He’s just a bit more mature (but still the same old Ashton).

(I know that is kind of a weird parallel, it makes sense in my head)

His sweet pie, Jackie Gordon was voted off and he decided to follow her by chasing after her limo. Ames surely practices what he preaches. We all saw during the latest Bachelorette season, when he told Ashley Hebert his philosophy on sprezzatura: finding romance in the ordinary life. You can read my post on that {here}.

How often do you change things around in your house/apartment/flat?

I bought these curtains about 7 years ago for my old apartment. Five years ago, when I moved into my curent apartment, I placed these curtains in my linen closet. I forgot that I had them. The other day I was cleaning out my linen closet and found them. I removed my solid panels and I hung them in my kitchen for a differnet look for the time being.

The Dirty Dancing Remake

I cannot keep silent about this. I’ve been reading headlines along with all the fan comments. And my thoughts are the same as everyone else; Hollywood needs to stop with all the remakes. This has gone too far. Didn’t they already try this with Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights? No one could ever replace Patrick Swayze or Jennifer Grey. It’s a total American icon. What will they try to remake next? Pretty Woman, Gone with the Wind?

Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, High School Music) will be directing it or something. Part of me, because of my love for the first movie, does not want to see this go thru. But, I am a huge Kenny Ortega fan, and I think he is a creative genius and I am really interested to see what he will do. I don’t think that they should do an exact remake. I think that they should do some kind of continuation or something. Maybe they could do something with Baby and Johnny’s kids or a new group of kids at the Kellerman’s.

“Omg, Vienna got the rose?”

Yes, that is what all is saying after last night’s premiere episode of The Bachelor Pad. Did anyone else endure all three hours of bpad last night? I am {almost} ashamed to say that I did. There were so many great lines and I laughed out loud at so many things, especially at the beginning when they introduced each character. After seeing last night’s show, they should rename this to “who hates who”.

Kasey and Vienna

With all drama going on surrounding Kasey and Vienna, they make all the other crazies look sane. Their drama completely dominated the entire house. And that is a hard competition to beat with this cast. When Vienna was whining, all I could think about is trying to decide if I like her better with or without hair extensions. Both are pretty horrible.

Erica aka Tiara Girl

One of the best lines last night was about her. “What happens when you have too many cocktails? Tiara girl becomes you partner in tomorrow’s challenge.” So far she has behaved. I guess there is no room for her drama with people like Casey and Vienna.

Jake

Did anybody buy his monkey show with Vienna? He’s just trying to gain trust and grace from all the other contestants. It’s part of his strategy for winning The Bachelor Pad. They broke it off over a year ago, he never at least thought of picking up the phone. No, he conveniently waited to apologize in front of all of America while he is competing for $250,000. And did y’all see his foot during that first challenge? Gross. Is winning really worth losing a limb?

Jackie

Silly girl for believe Jake’s story. {Thank goodness she ends up with Ames. She needs a smart guy.} I think that both Jake and Vienna are both ridiculous, but I still don’t buy Jake’s side of the story.

Michelle Money

Boy, oh boy! She has got some tough completion in the crazy department. She’s already given herself a black eye in Brad’s season to gain attention. What will she do now?

William

Poor William Holman got some flak for being a wimp to be the first to lose the first challenge. To me that makes him the sanest one in the bunch. He’s not willing to lose a limb {Jake} just to win a challenge. You know why? Because he knows that there is more to life and beyond The Bachelor Pad. He is probably the only one out of this cast to still be employable in the non-reality tv world.

I felt king of bad for the girl that got voted off, it didn’t look like she was hurting anybody. And I would have voted off Mr. Justin “Rated Bad”. I don’t trust him.

The Bachelor Pad

Don't you just love how previous bachelors and bachelorettes are referred to as The Bachelor Family or The Bachelor Franchise? Is that not disturbing and/or weird to anyone else? It seems to me that The Bachelor Pad is a show that compiles together the past contestants that have yet to find a job back in the real world into one show. So I guess The Bachelor Pad is just a way to fill their time (hopefully that is the only reason why someone would sign up for something like this).

Last year, I got a little bored with The Bachelor Pad after just a couple of episodes in, but this year, it looks a little more interesting. This season they definitely have a ~~psychotic~~ all star line up:

Erica Rose aka Tiara Girl

If I remember correctly she was also the self proclaimed princess, right? There's been so many seasons and crazy personalities, I sometimes blur them together. LOL. According to her bio on abc.com, she is friends with Vienna and Kasey. Why does that not surprise me? If you want to book her, you can do so thru her website {here}, thou I have no idea what you would book her for. Is she a speaker?

Gia Allemand

Is the economy really that bad that she still can't find a job? She was on one season of The Bachelor and two season of bpad*. Remember how on last season of bpad she got together with Wes, the sleazy country singer? I've read on other blog and mags that Vienna broke those two up.

Graham

If I am remembering right, he was the ex-basketball player from Dianna's season and he didn't like her as much as she liked him. Smart guy and very easy on the eyes. He has a company/organization that helps kids, I'm surprised that he would or have time to do a show like this. His organization's website is {here}

Holly Durst

I can't remember this girl. Who's season is she from? According to her website {here}, she is a children's book author.

Jake

I hope all the guys keep close eyes on the girls. After seeing him almost hit Vienna on After the Final Rose, I wouldn't trust him. And abc.com, still list his occupation as a pilot on his bio. We all know that's not true.

Justin aka Rated R "We call that Rated Bad, where I come from."

I don't remember anything good about this guy. And he also had a broken foot or something. According to people.com, he is dating or has dated Angelina Pivarnick from Jersey Shore. That was a while back I sure it is over by now.

Kasey

This is the one that got the tattoo on Ali's season of a shield to symbolize that he will "guard and protect" the heart of the girl that he is with. I'm sure that on the bpad* he will literally have to guard and protect his woman Vienna from Jake and Gia (which, really, I think Gia should be thanking her for coming between her and Wes).

Melissa Schreber

She was on Brad's season, but not for very long. She had pizza breath, and even Brad couldn't take the drama that she brought to the other girls in the house.

Michelle Money

Where do I start with this crazy? The least that she did, was give herself a black eye in Brad's season. Do y'all remember her limo ride when she didn't receive a rose? I think she was the first girl or guy not to cry for the limo ride. Here name was also all over Ashley Hebert's season, because she was trying to warn her about Bentley. Can't wait to see the drama that this one brings to the table.

Vienna

According to her bio on abc.com, "unemployed" is listed as her occupation. Ha ha and lol. At least she is honest. I'm so glad she decided to get rid of those bad extentions that she wore during Jake's season. Besides looking bad, it would have been too easy for Gia to rip them out her hair.

William Holman

I am so glad to see him. I hope we will not be seeing anything bad about him, because I really like him. I think he is genuinely a good person.

There are others bachelors and bachelorettes, they are just not interesting enough or cause enough drama for me to comment on. You can see all their bios on abc.com. The new season for bpad* premieres August 8.

Ever since I was a little girl, every time my mom and I would see Lauren Hutton make an appearance on tv, my mom would oh and ah over her style. She is definitely one of my mom's favorite style icons. She would also always comment on her teeth, and that it is what makes her so beautiful and unique (b/c, as a child I also had a split in my front teeth).

Ashley Hebert : The Bachelorette Finale Recap

She picked JP. What a surprise?! I think this season’s pick has been the least secretive, don’t you think? Everyone and their mama seemed to have heard or blogged about it. I saw someone post on twitter that even their Wikipedia page had who she picked before the finale (I didn’t bother looking it up at the time).

I thought the final was kind of bland. Thank goodness for her sister to add a little drama. I liked the sister. I liked the questions that she asked JP. She sounds like someone that has been there, and has seen her sister there. She said that she wanted to make sure that her sister wasn’t just on an emotional high like she has seen her on before. Honestly, I think she should be the next bachelorette. Wouldn’t that be interesting? She’s not the usual type that they would have as bachelorette, but she is very smart, knows what questions to ask, and wouldn’t let a guy suave her. Wouldn’t that be great? But I guess that wouldn’t make great tv?

The best thing was Jimmy Kimmel interview with them on his show last night. I always love watching Jimmy Kimmel make fun of (in a lovable way) the bachelor or bachelorette. I think he should do commentaries on each episode, he’s hilarious. If you didn’t catch it last night, it’s worth going to his website to view those clips. Very entertaining.

I’m sure by now, y’all are so sick of hearing about the bachelorette from me. Lol.

The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All Review

First, I want to review the attire? What was that mess that Ashley was wearing? (google it, not pretty) And what the heck were the guys wearing? Isn’t there some kind appropriate attire for this kind of show? It they didn’t want to wear a suit at least wear a jacket or really nice button down shirt. Like what was that drunken guy Tim wearing? A sailor outfit?

I did appreciate how Tim came on, owned up to his stupid behavior and let everyone else make fun of him. Besides being a drunk, I’m sure he’s a loveable guy, but not marriage material. He’s probably fun to have at a party when he is not passed out. Why didn’t they invite him on The Bachelor Pad 2?

Did anyone else cringe while William was on the hot seat? I’m about to defend William, but before I do that I want to first put out a disclaimer: I am not justifying what he did or said.

William got just as much negative attention as Bentley, that’s so wrong. First they bring up the stuff about when he told on Ben from New Orleans. I hate not taking up for one of my hometown guys, but I didn’t like him. Ashley asked about the other guys. William was just trying to save his bottom, and gain back Ashley’s affection because he felt so bad and guilty after the roast. He is not the first one on this show to tell on another contestant (Remember when Jake told on Wes, and everyone loved Jake so much they made him the next bachelor).

Now about that roast. Ok, it’s a roast. Does no one else no how a roast works or seen one on tv. It is not to be taken so seriously. Sure, he could have said other jokes, but he didn’t and he is sorry about it. And that stupid guy Nick shouts out, “Who did you want the bachelorette to be?” Nick, William wasn’t being serious! Geez! Lay off. William was just trying to be humorous and it didn’t work out.

I think the thing William is at fault is that he is immature and has a sense of humor, then you put those together and catch it on camera and this is what you get. People with a sense humor say crazy and jerky things all the time that they end up regretting. At lease he came to the show, took it like a man, and shows remorse; unlike someone else (Bentley).

Now let’s talk about Mr. Bentley. I’ve read that Bentley claims that he was just playing a character. Well, why didn’t he come on The Men Tell All and continue to play the character? Sure, Bentley is a jerk, but I think it was fused by his ex-wife and Michelle Money, trying to earn some more fame. I’ve seen and read interviews with the ex-wife talking about Bentley but also advertising her children’s accessory line. And Michelle helped to link it all together to get few more minutes of fame, and it worked because she is on The Bachelor Pad 2.

That Italian Renaissance Thing

If you have followed my blog any length of time, you know that I love to ~~make fun of~~ recap The Bachelorette and Bachelor episodes. A couple of weeks ago, I did a blog post about this season's Bachelorette, Ashley Hebert went on hometown dates {read it here}. On one the dates she went home with Ames Brown and they had a romantic picnic under a magnolia tree. While under that glorious magnolia tree Ames quoted this Italian Renaissance thing:

“It’s the best when the ordinary is extraordinary, I think. There’s this Italian renaissance way of being romantic: they call it ‘sprezzatura’. It is where you try to be as romantic as possible - but through your ordinary life. There’s so much more magic in the ordinary. Life isn’t all fireworks. Romantic things come from inside you.”

At the time that I wrote the first post, I did not have the exact quote of what he said. Since that episode aired, I have received thousands of hits on this wee little blog looking for it. People have been googling phrases such as ames bachelorette italian renaissance, etc. I have not had so many hits since I blogged about Kyle Richard's emerald earrings {here} or Lisa VanderPump's house tour {here} or that stupid Bentley guy {here}.

So this has caused me to do a little research myself on sprezzatura. From my understanding, the term means to be nonchalance or the art of appearing without effort.

It was originally coined by Baldassare Castiglione in The Book of the Courtier (1528): "[T]o avoid affectation in every way possible . . . and (to pronounce a new word perhaps) to practice in all things a certain Sprezzatura [nonchalance], so as to conceal all art and make whatever is done or said appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it."

Ah, that Ames Brown is such a smart romantic, too bad Ashley didn't give him a rose. But YAY for us, because we will get to see much more of him as a contestant on The Bachelor Pad. I've read on other blogs that he also started dating Jackie from Brad's season. There is even talk that he may be the next Bachelor. We'll see;)
